I'm scheduled for a tummy tuck next week October 8th and I wanted to know if it's safe to waist train after ive healed? If so how long do I need to wait to start I.e weeks, months?
Answer: Is it safe to waist training after a Tummy Tuck? Recovery time following a tummy tuck depends primarily on how extensive the procedure is whether the abdominal muscle was repaired, and your individual ability to heal. Following a tummy tuck, most patients are able to gradually return to limited exercise 3 weeks after surgery, but no impact or moderate weight activities until 4-6 weeks after the operation. I would recommend waiting 6-8 weeks before resuming strenuous exercising like sit ups in order to limit the risks of complications and to avoid undoing the muscle repair. You should discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon, who should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. It is important to follow all of his or her instructions. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Waist training Each plastic surgeon will have varying protocols for resuming exercise after a tummy tuck. I generally have my patients refrain from abdominal exercise for 6-8 weeks. Please remember you and your PS want you to achieve the best result possible, you will have spent a good deal of money, and this is a big surgery. So please follow your operative surgeons advice. Best of luck

Answer: Is it safe to waist training after a Tummy Tuck? It is commendable that you wish to return to exercise as soon as possible after surgery. Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to determining the return to specific activities after the specific procedures performed. He/she will know exactly how you are progressing and whether or not you have experienced any complications. Remember, that he/she is ultimately responsible for your care. Having said that, I ask my tummy tuck patients to start walking ASAP after surgery but refrain from any heavy-lifting or strenuous exercise for 6-8 weeks to prevent complications and ensure proper healing. It may be 4-6 months before you reach your full energy and strength levels. Best to “go slow” and listen to your body as you gradually increase or activity level. Best wishes.

Answer: Core exercising after tummy tuck Thank you for your pictures. I do not exactly what waist training would be but is sounds like you would use your abdominal muscles. I would wait 8 weeks after surgery to start vigorous core exercise

Answer: Tummy Tuck and Exercise Hello. Thank you for your question and pictures…and congratulations on your upcoming TT. I have my patients wait 6 weeks before they can do any type of exercise. If you do it too early, you can tear the stitches. I also have my patients wear a binder for the duration of the 6 weeks. I would make sure you address this question with your surgeon. Best of Luck to you!
