Incision open 6 months post op, should I see my doctor?

You should definitely go see a royal college certified plastic surgeon ASAP. This is a very significant problem as an opening of your incision with exposure of the implant could lead to many possible complications including a devastating infection resulting in the loss of the implant or even part or all of the breast. It is also very abnormal to have an incision open 6 months post op so this may be an indicator of deeper issues with the procedure. Unfortunately when surgery is done abroad, especially for a discount, it is very difficult to know if things were done properly. Best to see someone about this before it becomes a bigger problem.

Yes, whenever there is a problem such as wound healing it is very important that you follow up with a board certified plastic surgeon.The circumstances you find yourself in are not uncommon with medical tourism (see below link).

Any incision, whether it be plastic surgery or not, that opens up 6 months post surgery requires an immediate evaluation by a physician.  It's unfortunate that you had surgery abroad and can't see the plastic surgeon who did your lift.  There are any number of reasons why a wound would open up this late after surgery.  Some that come to mind include infection, seroma, some form of surgical misadventure, as well as possible wound healing inadequacies on your part.  All the above need to be evaluated initially by a physician, and ultimately by a Board Certified plastic surgeon. 

A closed incision reopening 6 months after a breast augmentation could be a sign of trouble including infection.  See your doctor immediately.

Thanks for the question. It is a little difficult to answer without a photo. It is unusual for a breast to open after six months. Probably best to seek the advice of a board certified Plastic Surgeon. 

It's not normal for an incision to open 6 months after surgery.  Because it's not possible to see your surgeon, find and see a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for an exam and treatment soon, as serious complications can arise if your implant is exposed. ac
