I feel like my vagina just hangs, I was looking into getting labiaplasty done but was wondering if a tummy tuck would help

It's important to clarify the terms to know what you mean. The vagina refers to the canal between the external genitalia (between the inner labia) and the cervix (inside), not something you see from the outside to lift. What I think you are referring to instead is the mons pubis, which is the tissue over your pubic area. The mons pubis can look droopy, and can be lifted at the time of a tummy tuck. If you don't need a tummy tuck, a monsplasty can also be done separately, which would basically involve lifting the area with an incision similar to a tummy tuck (though shorter), +/- lipo if there is excessive fat here.

I think what you are referring to is the pubic area or fat/skin laxity. The vagina is an internal structure. A poorly designed tummy tuck can mechanically overstretch the upper labial area and clitoris/clitoral hood. A mons-plasty without relying on the tummy tuck scar tension is usually done at the same time for some of my tummy tuck patients at the same surgery. This ensures that the labia/pubic area look normal and not over-stretched. If you have labia minora stretching or excess tissue, that can also be done at the same time as well.

I hope that these answers help!  Tummy tuck is an excellent method for shaping the belly and create a flatter and sculpted abdomen after the procedure.  It sounds like you would be an excellent candidate for the full tummy tuck procedure in order to remove the excess skin/soft tissue of your lower abdomen and contour the areas of your belly. Also, abdominal wall tightening may optimize your result. Stretch marks to the level of your umbilicus will also be excised.  I would highly recommend continueddiet and exercise prior to any consideration for body contouring as getting down to your ideal weight prior to the procedure will certainly give you the best results. Also, a continued healthy and active lifestyle will be needed in order to maintain the benefits that the procedure has given to you.  while excess tissue of the mons/pubis area may be raised and extra tissue removed, the TT will not address the actual labia. A separate procedure to rejuvenate the labia is necessary, as during a labiaplasty.  Consult with a plastic surgeon to discuss the various options and what would be the best method to meet your goals. Hope that this helps. Thank you for your question. A tummy tuck will lift up on the mons area which is a pro for a lot of patients. However it will not change the appearance of the labia majora or minora which is probably what you are referring to when you state the vagina is hanging. A labiaplasty will need to be performed to address this concern. It can be performed during the same day of surgery as the abdominoplasty but will be performed second. Many patients who are candidates for a tummy tuck may benefit from lifting the mons pubis area at the same time. Sometimes liposuction is done to debulk the mons as well, in order to achieve a smoother transition from belly to pubic region. This does not actually correct the *vagina* or the labia, per se, and the surgeon needs to be careful when combining mons surgery with thigh lifts or extended lower body lifts, in order to avoid spreading the labia. If you combine debulking/raising of the mons with labiaplasty (which treats the labia minora and clitoral hood potentially), you can achieve a more comprehensive feminine rejuvenation.

A tummy tuck will certainly address some drooping of the Mons but it will not do anything to the labia of the vagina. I would start with a tummy tuck maybe undergo some liposuction of the Mons area and see the effects and then decide if you need a formal labia plasty or not.

Yes with a tummy tuck it is possible to lift the mons area. It is pretty standard. I did one yesterday and it was the same situation. Massive weight loss patient with a very loose mons area. When I did the tummy tuck it did lift that area somewhat. I also liposuction or remove some of the fatty tissue there to make it thinner to match the abdominal flap. If you go to a legitimate board certified plastic surgeon by the American board of plastic surgery you should be in good hands. Do your research though. Not all board certified surgeons are good ones. It just means they passed the test.

Thanks so much for your question. A tummy tuck can definitely help reduce the fatty tissue in your pubic area. It’s a common thing that is done during a tummy tuck and can help the superior portion of your pubic area. It can also partially lift your vagina but it really won’t do anything to the labia majora. That would be something that would be dealt with through a labiaplasty. A tummy tech definitely help reduce the fatty tissue in your pubic area. I think voice your concerns to your plastic surgeon so that they can be specifically dealt with during your surgery.

Tummy tuck may pull up some of the lax skin overlying the pubic area but will not tighten external vaginal tissue.  Look into Sciton's diVA procedure with diVA tyte to rejuvenate vaginal tissues.  It works very well and can be done before or after your tummy tuck.
