I want to know where the scars will be when having a lower facelift. I’m aware of the one around the ear but some people have one under their chin. I know a neck lift scar is under the chin but what if you are only having a lower facelift? Can a lower facelift also improve the neck?
Answer: Most lower facelifts include the neck as well. Yes there is usually a small well hidden mark under the chin with a lower face lift since the neck is usually improved with a facelift.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Chin incision during facelift If the facelift includes a platysmaplasty, then an incision will be made in the crease behind the chin to access the neck muscles. These heal very well and should not be a concern.

Answer: Lower Facelift Scars Thank you for your question. The scars will be just inside the ear, around the earlobe continue along side the hairline. Please ask to see pictures of the surgeons scar as all will be different. The only reason you would have a scar under the chin would be if you were having neck liposuction or plaplatysmaplasty. If you are having facelift and necklift these scars should be just located around the ears, as suggested. The lower facelift targets the jawline and the necklift is a separate procedure. Most surgeons combine the facelift and necklift as they go hand in hand. Please make sure you find a reputable and qualified plastic surgeon. All The Best

Answer: Lower face lift incision placement Great question. Yes, a lower facelift can improve some of the neck are as the incision for it is place around the ear and behind the ear. From below and behind the ear, we can access the back of the platysma/neck muscle and tighten it and subsequently remove excess neck skin from there. You are right that the incision under the chin is placed there for a neck lift, and is not part of the lower facelift. The neck lift is used if you have significant neck banding/separation and need the platysma/neck muslces tied from the front. You can watch the video showing a neck lift and the facelift, and you can see when operating behind the ear, I am able to tighten some of the neck and remove some excess neck skin at the same time.
