Thanks so much for your question. I think it’s one of those questions that probably should be dealt with honestly more often. I usually tell my patients that there isn’t anything wrong with having a glass of wine tonight prior to surgery. Moderate drinking should not affect any surgical outcome. You certainly do not want to be dehydrated prior to any elective procedures. You probably won’t have any wound healing issues but you Wont feel well after your surgery. I think the main thing is just have good common sense and make sure that you always try to do everything possible to get the best outcomes.
Alcohol is a blood thinner and can set you up for bleeding/bruising as well as nausea which is very important to avoid. (You don't want to throw up after a tummy tuck if possible). 3 days before should be sufficient and ask your surgeon before using any alcohol afterward as you will have other medications on board.
