1 year post op, I have crackling, or popping in chest/ cleavage area? Is this normal?

Sometimes when I arch my back i feel a sensation of cracking or bubbling/popping on my chest. It doesn't seem to be my breasts exactly but its by the cleavage area. Doesn't hurt or anything, just very strange. Any opinions on the matter?

At 1 year postop I'm unsure what this could potentially be or be related to. It is best you address this with your plastic surgeon and or GP it may or may not be related to your implants.

It seems by your description the is not related to the breast implants. It may be the normal sounds of the chest wall particular caused by extreme stretching that you mention.

Thank you for sharing. If this is simply a sensation, it may be stretching of a skin nerve by the volume of the implant. Most likely not a major concern if all else is appropriate. See your surgeon to discuss and confirm. Best wishes.

Dear ESchulze,If the sensation is deep, similar to your chest wall, its likely the junction between your ribs and your sternum (breast bone).  If the sensation is coming from the breast tissue above the chest it may be the implant moving while you stretch.  As long as your breasts feel and look the way you want them to there should not be any reason for concern.All the best,Dr. Remus Repta

Thank you for the question!  I am not sure what is causing this.  Your implant may be sliding around in your capsule in a different way than most.  If it does not cause you any pain or other negative symptoms I recommend routine maintenance and follow up with your plastic surgeon.  Best of luck.--Dr. Mussman
