2 months post mid-face lift, and I'm a bit disappointed with outcome. What are my options? (Photo)

Those lines at the corners of the mouth can be pretty stubborn, even though it looks like you had a good facelift done.  Lines around the mouth may need to be addressed with injectable or laser if you want further improvement.

A facelift will improve your jowls and lax facial skin on your cheeks (as it has done beautifully) It won't change the area around the mouth which is better treated with botox, dermal fillers, peels and/or CO2 laser resurfacing. The recovery from deep treatment with the later can be longer than a facelift if really effective results are to be achieved. Perhaps discuss this with your facelift surgeon as I would hate for any patient to continue to be disappointed in an area when there are good treatments available. Good luck.

 Thank you for your pictures. I think your facelift and neck look very good. You now have s good  foundation but the covering(The skin) needs work.  Your skin could benefit from a nice skin care regimen, laser resurfacing and possibly some discreet areas of fat grafting.  

The question you ask is an excellent one. As you know, a facelift is a
surgical procedure that dramatically improves facial contours through the
reversal of age related changes in facial anatomy. As the face ages, we see the
development jowls, soft tissue excess in the face and neck, as well as an
overall descent of the facial soft tissues. The operation is not simply the
removal of excess, inelastic skin, but a resuspension of the facial tissues
that provide a more youthful appearance. Unfortunately this procedure, as
powerful as it is, does not address facial volume loss as we get older. This
facial volume loss is related to loss of the facial “baby fat”, reduction in
the facial skeleton as we lose bone mass, and loss of skin elasticity. Volume
restoration and resurfacing of the facial skin will provide notable

Hello.  Thank you for your question.  A facelift serves the purpose of lifting and tightening the lower face and neck.  Based upon your pictures, it appears that you have had an excellent result in these areas.  A mid-face lift serves the purpose of elevating the cheek fat pad and softening the depth of the nasolabial folds and marionette lines.  The pictures don't really show these ares adequately for assessment.  The smoker's lines around the mouth and the creases at the corner's of the mouth are not really addressed with either of these procedures.  The best way to treat those areas is with a combination of skin resurfacing (laser, chemical peel, or dermabrasion) and fillers.  I hope this information is helpful.

 Hello and thank you for the pictures.  The lines at the corner of the mouth are call marionette lines.  They are very difficult to remove with a facelift.  The cheek skin would have to be pulled so tight to decrease their appearance that it would then pull the mouth with a very unnatural look.  No one wants that.  Facelifts, no matter what kind, tighten loose cheek skin, decrease the depth of the nasolabial fold and remove jowls.  Marionette lines and lines of the lips are treated with fillers, skin care, peels and laser treatments.  Honestly, your result is good as you should be happy with both the neck and cheeks.  Talk with your doctor about your concerns as he or she will most likely discuss other options for improvement.

You have a great result from the surgery, unfortunately, not all the lines around the mouth can be corrected that way. For the deep marionette lines a filler like Juvederm or Restylane, can do a great work too. This is something that requires minimal recovery time and the results last for about 12 months. Keep in mind that this is a maintenance work, as Botox and IPL. 

Hi.  Your surgeon should have explained to you that wrinkles around the mouth are not treated with a facelift or mid face lift.  These usually require either resurfacing (laser or chemical peel) or filler to improve.So, those options would be your next step.PS:  Your neck looks very nice!

I'm sorry you are disappointed with your results. Before addressing the areas that can be improved, take a look at the improvements. They are significant. There certainly are improvements that could still be made, but your neck areas is certainly more youthful now than before surgery.I think it is very important to address with patients very specifically before surgery what can be accomplished and what cannot. Some people are only willing to spend a certain amount of money, or to deal with a certain amount of recovery. In those cases, we have to decide which concerns to address. Other times, patients might get the best result by having surgery performed in stages.  I would need more photos to make recommendations, but dermabrasio around the mouth could help with lines around the mouth Botox or Juvederm might help to elevate corners of the mouth,  lasers (NOT IPL) could help with textural improvements and discoloration in the skin. Share your concerns with your plastic surgeon. 

This is a case of the half full or the half empty glass. When compared to your preop starting point you have a remarkably excellent result. It's like altering clothing to make it fit better . Once the clothing is altered and it fits better it looks better , but the actual fabric is the same fabric. Your facial skin is the same skin quality your started with but looks better.if you wish further improvements in the skin quality either filler or skin resurfacing could further improve an already excellent result.
