ive had sessions of ipl laser hair removal on the neck. i really just want it for some coarse hair on the upper neck but the technician always treats the entire neck, including below the adams apple/ thyroid area. was just wondering if this can have an effect on the thyroid (nodules/ cancer)?

Yes, it is fine to ice the targeted areas before an IPL treatment. At my practice, we use a cooling gel applied beforehand as well as a cooling device that blows cold air to reduce pain and discomfort. We can also apply numbing topical creams if necessary.
