While it is unlikely that you suffered eye damage from IPL, eye protection is standard when performing any kind of laser treatment on the face, and I recommend visiting a different provider in the future who upholds better safety standards. If you notice anything wrong with your vision, visit an ophthalmologist for diagnosis and treatment.
If the light didn't penetrate your eyes you will be okay but I suggest you go to a different provider in the future. Best, Dr. Emer.
IPL can certainly be uncomfortable, but it's highly unlikely that it would damage your eyes.Considering that your provider did not place protective goggles on you, I would highly suggest that you see someone else in the future, as there is no excuse not to protect your patient's eyes during an IPL. The light from an IPL is directed against the skin and only the reflection is actually scattering out from the individual shots of light. That makes it highly unlikely that you have any damage from the treatment. It still is dangerous though, and for that reason, I'd recommend using protective eyewear for all IPL treatments. If you are having trouble with your eyes, see an Ophthalmologist for an evaluation.Andrew Campbell, M.D.Facial Plastic SpecialistQuintessa Aesthetic Centers

IPL can increase photosensitivity immediately after treatment, but not four months later. We always advise avoiding the sun and being diligent about applying broad-spectrum sunscreen and protective clothing following treatment. Perhaps your sunscreen only provided UVB protection, as the SFP...
