Should I ice before IPL?

Question

Is it ok to put some ice on top of the area before doing IPL so it does not hair as much? And then of course makin sure its dry before doing the treatment. THanks

Yes, it is fine to ice the targeted areas before an IPL treatment. At my practice, we use a cooling gel applied beforehand as well as a cooling device that blows cold air to reduce pain and discomfort. We can also apply numbing topical creams if necessary.

Yes, you can. We use a topical numbing agent for 30-45 minutes prior to treatment. #IPL  #pain  #numbingcream

I find that fraxel is a better options for wrinkles and color/texture but yes you can ice prior to IPL to help prevent complications and decrease pain.  Nerve blocks and topical numbing should help. Best, Dr. Emer.
