Your mole can be safely and easily removed by one of two methods: a shave excision or an excision with suture closure. A dermatologic surgeon typically does both procedures expertly and can decide which would be best for your particular mole. A shave excision is a procedure where the mole is actually "shaved off" at a level just below the surface of the skin. The other method is an excision with suture closure which uses both dissolving and non-dissolving sutures to give the best cosmetic result. Please use the ABCDE's as your guide for when to be concerned about moles: A for Asymmetry; B for irregular Borders; C for black or uneven Colors; D for Diameter greater than a pencil eraser; and E for a growth that is Evolving or changing.
Thank you for your question and photograph. I cannot determine if your mole has any concerning features because it needs to be evaluated with a dermatoscope, which is an instrument that allows the physician to assess the mole under high magnification for any abnormalities. If any are found, then a biopsy should be performed, which may leave an atrophic scar or indentation. Any spot or lesion that is concerning to you should be evaluated in person, therefore, I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist to have your skin evaluated and to discuss treatment options that best suit your needs. Take care and good luck.
I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Moles can be removed with laser, radiowave or shave. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. Any trauma or surgical procedures performed to the skin can have mild discomfort or tenderness a few days afterwards. As the area begins to heal, the pain should decrease; however, if the pain continues or increases along with redness, swelling, increase in bloody ...
Thank you for your question. In my experience, marks from sutures remain permanent and heal time after an incision can take a few months. There are some topical scar therapies available to help minimize scarring, so I highly recommend you consult with your surgeon regarding your questions and...
