The hairline can be raised with a brow lift using a pretrichal incision, which is hidden behind the hairline. Utilizing a second incision that parallels the contour of the hairline, a segment of hair bearing scalp can be removed. An open brow lift is then performed via a subgaleal or subperiosteal approach, with release of the temporal line of fusion, the arcus marginalis, lateral orbital ligaments, myotomies of the corrugator and procures muscles, dissection of the branches of the supraorbital and suprtrochlear nerves, and any of the other commonly performed maneuvers that are incorporated in a brow lift. On closure, the hairline is moved up to its new more posterior position, elevating the brow in the process. By beveling the pretrichal incision, the regrowing hair follicles will grow through the hairline scar, further camouflaging it from view.
