Hello ahnie,Thanks for your question. There are several ways to raise the bridge of the nose.I will list them for you with some of my thoughts so that you can make a good decision regarding which technique makes the most sense for you.1. Injectable filler - patients can have injectible filler like a hyaluronic acid (Restylane, Juvederm, etc.), Radiesse, or your own fat placed under the skin of the bridge of your nose to elevate it. This technique is great because it is low cost and easy to perform in the office. However, because most filler material is not permanent, it needs to be reperformed every so often.2. Placement of a dorsal solid implant - an engineered dorsal implant made out of silicone or medpor, or a tissue implant made out of cartilage or bone can be used to raise the bridge of the nose. This procedure does require surgery, but it is long lasting. There may be problems with resorption, malposition, warping, or the feeling of the implant.3. Placement of a DCF graft - a DCF graft stands for diced cartilage/fascia graft. It is made from tiny bits of minced up cartilage, mixed with blood, and placed into a tube made out of biologic tissue known as fascia. It creates a soft, moldable implant that creates a natural look. It has varying amounts of resorption.A specialist in rhinoplasty surgery can help you determine the procedure that best fits for you.Good luck,Dr. Shah
Thank you very much for the questions. The harmony between facial parts makes us instinctively recognize the beauty... without knowing it, without defining it, just a perception that surprises and captivates us.In this regard, After having analyzed all the info. and photos provided to us, i recommend you perform an Open Full Rhinoplasty, includding narrowing of the nasal base and nostrils, with nasal bones treatment (controled fracture) and alar + triangular nasal cartilages re-shaping.With this procedure you get a delicate nose, better harmonize with your other facial features.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
The closer the nasal bridge is to the face, the flatter it will appear. Adding height to your nasal bridge not only improve your profile, but it can make your Nose from the front appear much more narrow. There are many surgical techniques that can achieve this. They range from inserting synthetic implants like Gore-Tex or silicone, to organic solutions like your own cartilage. There are advantages and disadvantages to both options. The synthetic implants typically are more uniform, have no exposed edges, will not resort, but are foreign bodies that your body may you to react against or they can get infected.Organic material like your own cartilage may require that you Incisions placed elsewhere on your body, either behind your ear or on your chest in order to harvest the extra cartilage. However, it is natural tissue and your own tissue so the likelihood of rejection is Nonexistent.Good luck with your choice!
Hi there and thanks. Your nasal bridge can be raised with a rib cartilage graft. The tip of your nose will also need to be refined using an open rhinoplasty technique. Good luck. Dr. B
I will be the voice of polite dissent. Implants designed for the bridge of the nose look better than almost all grafts. Implants are machined in different sizes and blend well into the surrounding tissues.Grafting with the patient's own tissues requires the skill to shape the graft artistically and usually require a separate operation to harvest the graft material. These grafts are relatively unpredictable in their survival and may warp or leave irregularities. Properly performed, dorsal nasal implants have a low risk profile and provide outstanding cosmetic results relatively predictably. That said, each surgeon will have his own preference based upon his surgical philosophy and experience. Good results can be achieved by either approach of course. Best of Luck Dr Harrell
Thanks for your question. For patients with low nasal dorsums we build them up with onlay grafts. These can be taken from your own nasal septum or rib cartilage, or from rib cartilage from a cadaver. Other options include Goretex or silicone onlay grafts, but in general it is always safest to use your own tissue. Usually this kind of work is done through an open rhinoplasty approach. Good luck!
Hello and thank you for your question. Raising the bridge is common in African American patients. I personally do not use nasal implants, and prefer to use the patient's own tissues. Cartilage is taken either from inside the nose or from the ear and this is used to "augment" the nasal bridge. Good luck!Regards,Aaron Kosins, MDPlastic & Rhinoplasty Surgeon
Raising the nasal bridge is a common request from patients. This can be done both surgically or non-surgically. The best recommendation is to consult with a board certified specialist who can assist you with achieving the results you seek. 3-dimensional computer imaging can help you visualize what you may look like afterwards and serve as an important communication tool with your surgeon.
