Recommended wait time between surgeries?

Question

I'm having rhinoplasty done October 14th and a Brazilian Butt Lift on November 19th. I have a history of anemia and vitamin deficiencies (but this was almost 3 years ago). I have scheduled a blood test, but I'm sure that I'm not anemic, and my last checkup revealed that I was fine. Is 5 weeks a long enough wait between surgeries? I've never been under general anesthesia before, but I have no health issues. I am 20 years old, 158lbs and 5'5, so I am overweight (but this is necessary for the BBL)

While it may be true that being young and in good health, four to five weeks maybe adequate wait time between surgeries requiring general anesthesia, I would advise you to stretch the time. Particularly, because both your surgeries are elective and both involve intra-operative positioning  that may affect the outcome of the other.  Pressure on the nose is a concern and it can happen not only during induction of anesthesia but more importantly, during prolonged prone position (on your stomach) during BBL. Discuss this thoroughly with your surgeon(s)  and I'm sure you'll be able to reach an informed decision. Good luck.

For a healthy individual 1 month of weight time after a rhinoplasty is an adequate.  The biggest concern is any movement of the nose while pressure is applied on the nose from the mask during anesthesia.  However, most nasal bones are set in place within 3 weeks.  As a precaution it should be mentioned to the anesthesiologist giving anesthesia that excessive pressure on the nasal bones and the nose should be avoided.RegardsDr. J

A wait time of 5 weeks in between 2 major surgeries should be acceptable, as long as patient's are in good health. It's also  a good idea to get clearance from  your hematologist to make sure your anemia is not an issue

Every patient is different and some surgeries require more recovery than others. It is unlikely that you will lose a lot of blood during a rhinoplasty.  It is likely ok.  Best to check with your surgeon.

5 weeks is plenty of time to wait between surgeries, if you are not anemic.  Your surgeon should be the judge, and he/she can place you on multivitamins (especially Vitamin C and B12, and Iron, if necessary.) The repeat anesthesia is not a problem with the modern techniques used today.
