Gingivectomy and veneers or just veneers? (Photo)

Based on the one photo sent it is difficult to determine whether you will gain by having gum recontouring (gingivectomies).  What you show when you smile is important, the edge line of where the teeth end at the incisal is also important.  You do not want to truly lengthen teeth so that it interferes with your bite, especially when you bite into something. If tooth lengthening is going to present a better result the gum treatment should be done first, wait for complete healing before impressions are done.

Depending what do you want about your smile. Gingivectomy or so called :smile lift" will make your teeth longer and if you want  straight, perfect teeth you can do veneers after that.

Thanks for the photo, it is a little bit dark and it's hard to determine the actual height of your gums. There are several factors that must be evaluated when deciding if you need a gingivectomy. The first question is can this be done with a laser or does bone need to be removed? This will be determined by your dentist. If you have excess gum tissue then it can be removed with a laser. If there is also excess bone you will need a more surgical approach. You arch does appear to be very narrow. This can be widened simply by doing veneers, but you wont be able to make your teeth longer without the gingivectomy. I hope this helps answer your questions.
