I got my temporary veneers Wednesday. I went back yesterday because my bite felt uncomfortable. Now, this morning I feel like I might need to go back and get them adjusted again! Is it normal to have to go back a few times before they feel right? Also, he didn't glue them in because the fit was tight enough with out the glue. Is that okay? One more thing...when I run my tongue across the back of my temps I can feel little spaces between my gums and the temps. Feels scary! Is that normal?
Answer: Temporaries Often times, veneer temporaries can take several visits to obtain the correct bite. The veneer temporaries are made of an “epoxy-like” acrylic material that can expand and shrink when they absorb moisture or encounter hot or cold liquids or foods. Also, usually the dentist with “numb” the area of your mouth that you now have the temporary veneers and when you were still in the dental chair, your actual, correct bite may have become altered due to the numbness. Typically the temporary veneers fit very similarly as the definitive porcelain veneers but you may notice some small spacing between the actual tooth and the temporary veneer, especially if cement was not used. My advice is call your dentist and make an appointment to go in and see him to evaluate and make sure there is not a problem. If the bite is off now, you develop some sensitivity or discomfort from hitting too hard on one or more of the temporaries?

Answer: Temporary Veneers Temporary veneers are just that...temporary. They are usually not glued so that cement does not interfere with the final fitting of the actual porcelain ones. However it is not unusual, especially if you were numb at the preparation visit to need a slight adjustment to your bite. Your dentist may also need to polish the adjusted area so it does not feel rough, and perhaps recontour the area around your gums. But remember these are only temporary until the real ones are ready.

Answer: Temporary veneers thowing off my bite Yes, have your dentist adjust them. Many times in our practice we correct the bite utilizing the porcelain veneers. We call it a mouth approach to your smile. If you bite needs improving, it can make for a prettier smile in the outcome. Good luck. Dr. David Frey

Answer: Temporary veneers It's not uncommon for the bite to feel a little "off" with temporaries. I wouldn't be too concerned. As far as "glue" not being used, this is a technique first taught by the Las Vegas Institute and students often said it was worth the cost of the course. You will be surprised at how difficult it is to remove them when the time comes. Temporaries also never feel quite normal on the inside but your permanent veneers should feel seamless.
