Persistent indentations on nose bridge after having sunglasses on for just 5 seconds, 2 weeks after rhinoplasty. (photos)

At 16 days after your rhinoplasty, if you had osteotomies to help reshape the bone of your nose, those small breaks in the bone are unlikely to have been able to be displaced with the light weight of sunglasses.  This is far more likely to be normal postoperative swelling in the tissues and time is on your side, for as the swelling resolves over 3-4 months so should the is issue.  Follow up with the plastic surgeon who did your surgery so your progress can be monitored.

Even if you had osteotomies, the likelihood of causing indentations after 5 minutes or seconds is low. Your nose appears swollen, less than 1 month post-op. You should raise your concerns with your surgeon for reassurance.Hope this helps you.Dr. Joseph

It's really likely that this is all due to the distribution of the residual swelling following the rhinoplasty and will resolve completely over time. The likelihood that you could cause any permanent changes by wearing sunglasses for 5 seconds (or even for several minutes for that matter) is incredibly small. Try not to worry. Time is your friend. Be patieny and although it may take several months,  it will almost certainly go away. Good luck.

Pressure on the nose after rhinoplasty pushes edema fluid from the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. This has a good chance of resolving over time. You may want to try some Steri-Strips in this area to reduce the swelling over the entire nasal dorsum, but I think it is most important for you to seek the advice of your local plastic surgeon in Boston who did your procedure. Having the sunglasses on for 2 - 5 seconds should not have caused indentations on your bridge.  I show patients how to tape the glasses to their foreheads until the tissue is healed to avoid this problem. Follow up with your Plastic Surgeon for an exam so that he can monitor your healing for your best result.
