My saline implants are 20 years old and after my routine mammogram 3 days ago, my right breast has gotten smaller and seems flatter than the left. I also got a call today saying I needed to have my surgeon check my implants because the right one showed more "folds" than the left.

Answer: Saline implant rupture after mammogram I typically tell my saline breast aug patients that they should expect at least ten years from their implants but that they can rupture at anytime. The pressure from a mammogram can lead to rupture. If you have had an acute change in feel or shape of your breast then you should see a board certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: Can a mammogram cause an implant to rupture? I appreciate your question. Yes this might be possible with a 20 year old implant. Best to schedule an appointment with a plastic surgeon so they can examine you and recommend most appropriate and safe treatment plan at this time. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery. best of luck!
