Are Patient Truthfully Naked During Rhinoplasty?

Before the rhinoplasty surgery patient is asked to undress and put on the gown, compression stockings and socks. Patient can leave his/her underwear and/or bra on.  During the procedure patient is covered with blankets. The operating room is cold and patient’s body is not exposed to lower temperatures and kept worm. At all times patient is treated with full respect and dignity. Do not worry you do not have to be naked! 

Patients are escorted into the operatory with a gown and underwear, and this remains on my patients for the duration of Rhinoplasty Surgery. Hope this is helpful for you.

This would be very unusual. The OR is typically very cold and patients need to be covered with a gown, blanket and often a warming blanket. The only exception during a rhinoplasty would be a procedure where cartilage from your rib is required. This would require uncovering one side of your chest where the cartilage would be removed. Patients will be covered by a thin blanket and then additional layers will be added once the patient is on the operating table.

The sanctity of the patient's body is highly regarded and well protected in any respected surgical centers and under the supervision of the operating surgeons and the entire medical team; the patient's privacy will not be violated during surgery at any reputable institution.

No, you will not be laying naked and exposed during your surgery. In fact you are usually covered with a thin warming blanket and then regular blankets. Most OR policies do not want you to be wearing anything constrictive or with anything other than cotton. Your privacy and protection should always be part of any well respected OR facility.

Simply no, you will not be naked during your rhinoplasty. The room might be cold and patients are covered at all times and a warming blanket might be used as well. In our office facility we have patients wear their underwear and pants, and also socks to keep covered and warm. Hospitals might have other policies.

Can't imagine why.  You will be asked to change into a clean hospital gown.  It will not be removed during surgery.  We are very mindful of your modestry.

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the proper standard of care for clothing on the operating table. I will answer what our policy is in my office and my private fully accredited surgical facility where I perform my procedures. On the morning of surgery you will be given a cloth gown to put on and underwear. You undress in the private room and the nurse then weighs you and puts you on the operating table. At that time the nurse covers you completely with a sheet and blanket and then puts a warming blanket on you that fills with hot air to keep you warm during your procedure. You slip your arm out of the gown after your covered in order to place the proper monitoring equipment on you. EKG pads, blood pressure cuff, oxygen monitor etc..the anesthesiologist then starts your I.V.You are then fully draped with sterile surgical sheets. After the procedure you are transferred to the recovery room bed covered in the same blankets. When it is time for discharge the nurse helps you get dressed. At no time are you naked or exposed on the table for Rhinoplasty surgery. It is always our job to provide the utmost privacy to our patients while ensuring their safety.
