Should I continue to moisturize my skin 5 weeks after Infini?

Question

Some doctors claim that moisturizing makes skin lazy and can’t produce moisture on its own. It has been 5 weeks since Infini. Face is sill slightly red and bruised in some areas. Should I continue to moisturize or let my face make it on its own?

Moisturizing the skin is important for overall skin health as is drinking a lot of water. Dehydrated and dry skin will hamper the normal skin processes. Infini will cause redness, swelling and dryness which may last several weeks. I would continue your normal skin regimen which should include a moisturizer.

First, some people have dry skin and do not produce enough sebum (oil) on their own. This increases as you age. Most adults eventually develop dry skin as they age, but not all. It is not because the skin is "lazy." Skin should be soft and moist to the touch. If your skin is still dry 20 minutes after you wash your face, then you have dry skin. Using a moisturizer once or twice a day is important for people with dry skin, regardless of procedure.
Second, redness and bruising 5 weeks after Infini is highly unusual. I would be concerned about some other topical contributing to redness over that long a time. Bruising, even after an accident, does not usually take that long to clear. I would recommend reviewing your skin care regimen with an expert-- and make sure it is suitable to your skin type.
