Lump under the chin that doesn't seem to be fat (Photo)

Question

Hello, I have a lump under my chin that doesn't seem to be fat but maybe muscles. I have also noticed that the bump increases in size when I press my tongue hard against my palate. I would like information on what this could be and what type of healthcare professional I should consult to get an accurate diagnosis and determine the best treatment option. I am under 25 and i'm athletic and lean enough to have visible abs. Note: tongue posture is up.

There are a substantial number of structures that you can feel under your chin. If you’re feeling around firm dime size nodule, then it’s most likely that you are feeling your submandibular salivary glands. You can Google that term and get an idea of where they’re located. There were also lymph nodes you can sometimes feel in the area as well as the borders of the platysma muscle.
Most people will have some palpable lamp somewhere on their body and it common to find them and they had a neck region.
It does not mean that something is wrong, but you are just noticing normal anatomy most likely.
You can certainly discuss this with your primary care doctor next time you see them.
Indication for needing a specialty evaluation would be if something is changing or growing in size.
