Answer: What can I do to correct dents, lumps, hanging skin eight years after liposuction Much more information as needed, such as a full set of facial and neck photographs taken from all angles in a chin neutral position, and your age. You also appear to have fat deposits located above and below the platysma muscle, which would require a neck lift procedure. This surgery accomplishes removal of both compartments of fat which also includes a platysma-plasty to significantly improve your jawline. If you have loose and inelastic skin in the neck, then a lower face and neck lift procedure is going to be required to tighten that loose neck skin.

Answer: Poorly done Liposuction Delivering consistent quality, liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who can deliver consistent quality results including the ability to make accurate assessments and deliver predictable outcomes is relatively small. Plastic surgeons after they think they are better at Liposuction, and then they actually are. Because there’s a significant variation in skills and experience among providers patient should be highly selective before scheduling surgery. To find the best provider I recommend patients have multiple in person consultations before scheduling surgery. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body or facial characteristics to your owner. An experience provider should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Revision work is many times more difficult than primary Liposuction. Techniques used to improve poorly done liposuction include revision Liposuction, fat grafting or a combination. In some cases converting the procedure to a skin tightening operation may be appropriate. To correct poorly done, liposuction results especially if that grafting is done may require multiple procedures. Considering that revision work as many times more difficult than Primary procedures, patients should be even more selective when it comes to choosing the best provider. Generally speaking the best surgeons for doing revision work for the same providers, who do the best primary procedures. The only exception is if fat transfer is indicated in which you need confirmation that the provider not only has mastered not only Liposuction but also fat transfer. Liposuction results should be considered permanent and irreversible. If done poorly the chance of having a quality outcome, it goes down significantly. This is not to say that some improvements are not possible. Patients need to keep expectations, real and focus on their candidacy for improvement and particularly finding the best providers. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the best provider. The more consultations you have the more likely you are to find the best provider. For most patients, I recommend having at least five in person consultations before scheduling surgery. Your situation is unfortunate, and I can empathize with the stress and distrust that comes with having a poor plastic surgery outcome. Recognize that improvements are possible, but this type of work is difficult. The importance of finding the right provider to work with is paramount. The process always begins by having multiple consultations at which time you can get to know each plastic surgeon. Recognize that patients should take an active role in the vetting process of plastic surgeons. You are fully entitled to request seeing sufficient documentation to confirm each providers, skill and experience. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
