I'd like to know the probability of an underbust tattoo end up looking odd after a tummy tuck. I'm currently a manequin 52, I want to lose weight and then undergo a tummy tuck getting me to a manequin 44/48.
Answer: Tattoo If you undergo a standard tummy tuck after your weight loss the skin from the level of the belly button to approximately the hip bones is removed. The skin located above the belly button is pulled down to meet the low incision. If you have an under bust tattoo that skin would be stretched downward. I hope this helps.

Answer: Tattoo changes after tummy tuck You have correctly identified the first issue and that is with your internal or visceral fat that would need to be removed prior to having a tummy tuck. Once all of that weight is lost you would be a candidate for liposuction and a tummy tuck. There is stretching on the upper abdominal skin that may distort a tattoo in the upper aspect of your abdomen. How much? That is more difficult to say exactly but I would certainly say that it will be distorted.

Answer: Underbust Tattoo Hello! There should be no issue with an under-breast tattoo and a future tummy tuck. It is true that with weight loss and a tummy tuck, the upper abdominal skin will pulled lower. The positioning of an under-breast tattoo will likely be moved a little lower but this should be OK. Best of luck! Respectfully, Jules A Feledy, Jr, MD American Board of Plastic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Timing of tattoo placement to upper abdomen before undergoing tummy tuck? Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photos, I note a protuberant abdomen with moderate stretch marks. There is a hanging pannus. The flanks and hips are full as well. BMI (body mass index equals weight in kg / square of height in meters) describes the relationship between height and weight, and is one criterion to determine the anticipated results of a cosmetic surgery. You can find BMI calculators on the internet. If your BMI is greater than 30, the cosmetic result will not be optimal. If your BMI is greater than 35, your operative risk will rise. In our practice we recommend a BMI of less than 30. We recommend that you be at a healthy comfortable stable body weight at the time of surgery. The cosmetic effect improves with lower BMIs. If your BMI is above 35, we recommend a regimen of diet and exercise to reach a safe and healthy body weight. If not achievable, one may consider a bariatric procedure such as a gastric sleeve to achieve dramatic weight loss. If your weight is satisfactory, abdominoplasty will tighten the abdomen and remove lax skin and soft tissue. The remaining soft tissue is advanced downward to close the incision. This will potentially distort the appearance of a tattoo placed before the procedure. It is beat to wait until after the abdominoplasty. Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for in-person evaluation and discussion. Best wishes...
