Pain management after a chin implant

Thank you for your question. In my experience, chin implant placement is not a particularly painful surgery. Most patients take some prescription-strength pain medicine for 1-2 days and then transition to Tylenol. I should note that i place chin implants through a submental incision (under the chin) rather than though the mouth (intraoral). Not only does this lead to more precise placement of the implant, but it causes less pain afterward. Best of luck moving forward!

Relax. It's not as bad as you might think. We frequently will prescribe some tylenol with codeine that the patinet can crush and subsequently take it by mixing with some yogurt. The first 24 hours are the most uncomfortable. The discomfort subsides with each passing day. Good luck

Your discomfort should be
minimal and easily controlled with medication. I tell my patients at my San
Francisco facial plastic surgery practice to expect to have some trouble
chewing at first. You'll want to plan to eat soft foods for about a week. After
several weeks, you won't be able to feel the implant at all because it assumes
the consistency and feel of your own tissue.

Most people have mild to moderate pain for a couple of days following a chin implant. Most will take some narcotic pain medication during that period. The vast majority of patients transition to Ibuprofen or Tylenol within about three days. Intense pain has been uncommon in my experience. BTW we'd love to have you move to Denver!
