Will a chin implant make my face appear longer/slimmer? (Photo)

The decision to place a chin implant must be made with a full set of photographs. The primary objective of a chin implant is to give added projection to the chin when a weak/recessive chin is present. The chin implant will also give a few millimeters of added height and width to the chin area. Chin implants are composed of Silastic, are inserted through a sub mental approach usually under local anesthesia.

A chin implant will usually balance the face, but there are so many factor associated with "slimming" the face.  A face for face consult is required to be accurate.  See my video attached for more info on chin surgery.Joe Niamtu, III DMD

It is hard to tell whether or not you need a chin implant.  The purpose of the chin implant is for projection to balance the lower face.  You wish your face to be longer and thinner.  A chin implant will not do that.  I would need to see photos of you: front view; side view; not smiling for better evaluation.
