Does having a very vertically short chin make jowls more pronounced?

Based on your photos, chin augmentation seems to be a good option for correction of your chin deficiency and jowls. Small chin will contribute to early appearance of jowls. Addressing chin height and projection with glove type of implants with lateral extensions will help to improve current condition.You should consult a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in facial implants and discuss your options. A vertically shorter chin can create the appearance of increased jowls. Vertical chin lengthening can be done by either a sliding genioplasty or a specially designed vertical lengthening chin implant. An implant is more effective at reducing jows because it has an augmentation effect further back along the jawline.

Hi, based upon the attached photos the chin is quite weak and the cheeks are very flat anteriorly (in the front) both of which cause the face to appear somewhat elongated and out of balance. Chin augmentation with a chin implant can create harmony and balance to the entire lower face and improve the pre-jowl area.  Cheek augmentation with a dermal filler (I prefer Perlane) or using cheek implants for a permanent enhancement will soften and feminize the face.  Hope this helps.

I think that you would be a good candidate for a chin implant. The length and shape of your jaw will affect the appearance of jowls. A properly chosen implant can address the length and shape of your chin and fill in the area of the pre jowls in order to improve the overall shape of the area. It is difficult to address all this with a sliding genioplasty.  Good luck.
