Can nostrils enlarge by blowing the nose after alarplasty?

Question

4 weeks post op, had to blow a little harder than usual to get those dried mucous out, and my nose / tip are still swollen but I feel like my nostrils have gotten a bit larger after blowing my nose? is this possible or did I just cause some more swelling? Could I possibly just be over thinking at 4 weeks? I do feel they are a bit larger , but at the same time I am confused with my mind playing games after dealing with uneven swelling and complications... I really do appreciate your honesty

procedure.Blowing your nose probably
will not cause your nostrils to enlarge at this point.The only way that could happen is if the
incisions open, but most likely at this stage, you are probably okay.I hope this helps.

Thank you for your question.  You cannot enlarge the nostrils by blowing your nose after alarplasty unless the incision opens up (dehisces) in which case you would know it (I wouldn't be subtle).  Any change you noticed is likely swelling which is normal at 4 weeks after surgery.  You will notice fluctuations in swelling especially with changes in blood pressure (blowing your nose hard causes a momentary spike in blood pressure) for at least a few months after surgery.  All the best!

It's unlikely to alter the results and enlarge the nostrils from blowing your nose after alarplasty. Unless the incision(s) is affected. typically this is unlikely to happen by just blowing the nose.

At 4 weeks out, you likely still have swelling. It can take about a year for the swelling to subside.
