Can osteotomies be repeated in a secondary rhinoplasty?

Can osteotomies be repeated in secondary rhinoplasty? I had a large hump removed, but now my nose appears wider in the middle. The operative records state that I had median osteotomies performed on both sides of the bony septal edge, approximately 3 mm cephalically.

Occasionally, somebody does not achieve adequate infraction of their nasal bones during a primary rhinoplasty surgery, and this may result in a wide, or an asymmetrical nasal bridge appearance. If this is seen 9 to 12 months after surgery, it is not a major undertaking to repeat osteotomies to achieve a narrower nasal appearance. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Hello and thank you for your question. Osteotomies are very commonly redone during revision with both lateral and medial osteotomies. With good surgical technique, you could likely have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Yes, osteotomies can be repeated. In your case it seems like lateral osteotomies were not done. This will be the first time you get lateral osteotomies. This makes it a lot easier. You might only need lateral osteotomies to push the bones together.
