Remove fat pockets with syringe? (Photos)

Question

I had fat transferred to my face 6 months ago and was curious if these residual fat pockets could be removed with just a syringe in office or if I truly would require a whole operation? They are very tiny BUT noticeable. They show more when I smile, which I do a lot of. They are soft to the touch and give a weird appearance from front and profile. They are both located right above my ear and below my temples. Thank you.

Thank you for your questions and photo. It depends on what the pockets are. If they are a small area of necrotic fat versus an actual pocket of fat that has taken. Its possible to suck the area with a syringe if it is soft fat or use a procedure called a SAFE cannula to smooth the fat out. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a board certified Plastic Surgeon who has experience with fat grafting. They will be able to assess your specific anatomy and put together a plan that is best for you. Good luck!

Correcting and even contours from previous facial fat transfer can be tricky.

It can definitely be done as an in office procedure. Attempting this with a Liposuction and Cannula may be a reasonable approach. The form of suction whether a pump or syringe is irrelevant to it being done in the office or an operating room.

Direct surgical excision is very precise and the scars often very forgiving.  Lumps after facial fat grafting often include scar tissue and fat necrosis which does better with direct surgical excision.

I suggest you follow up with your provider and ask him or her to help you with the revision.
