Possible capsular contracture (Photo)

Capsular contracture recurrence rates can be as high as 50%. Pocket changes (subglandular to submuscular) can be effective in reducing the risk slightly.

Contracture is a progressive process that often takes years to become apparent. It begins with slight changes in firmness/softness. This can progress to visible distortion and eventually discomfort.

It is difficult to say with certainty without an in-person exam/evaluation.

As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

a capsule can be detected by any experienced breast surgeon at a consultation in person. There are a number of ways Dr's detect. I would suggest going back to the Dr who did your initial implants or to a new experienced breast surgeon. Wishing you the best of luck!

Hello and thank you for question and photos. Its best to do an in person consult for something like this. The fact that you have a history of CC and you have the pain and discomfort you are probably developing an other one. If the implant is hard and firm and misshapen I recommend you see a plastic surgeon for evaluation.

Looks like its affected again, that is if it is the same breast as last time, you didn't make that clear. You need a proper treatment: total capsulectomy via an inframammary incision.

Good morning, I hope you are well. Besides noticing your breast looking unusual, do you experience any pain? If so, you should undergo a breast ultrasound to ensure everything is fine and to rule out any contracture.

I'm sorry you're having this problem. Research tells us anyone that has had capsular contracture is at higher risk for getting it again. The only way to 100% diagnose capsular contracture is to have your surgeon or any other board certified surgeon perform a physical exam. Then they can make an appropriate treatment plan for you and get you back looking and feeling your best!

It is hard to tell definitively from just a photo but appears from the picture that you do have a capsular contracture. I recommend returning to your surgeon and having your surgeon examine you and assess if you have a capsular contracture.

Just based on your one photo, you might have a capsule. If you have saline implant, you might have a deflation. Go and be checked.

Based on the changes that you have noticed and your history it is best to visit with your surgeon who can evaluate your situation and determine if you have capsular contracture.
