Removed steri strips at 12 days post opp. Very sensitive on and around incisions. Could this mean infection? (photo)

From the photograph it looks as though you are fine. The small amount of erythema or redness next to the incision is a normal part of the healing process.

From your photos alone it does not appear that you have an infection. If you are worried about an infection you should follow up with your chosen surgeon. Best of luck.

This does not look like an infection.  The stern strips can sometimes be irritating to the skin.  Now that they are off, things should resolve quickly. The stern strips are completely unnecessary after one week, let alone one month.  I would not replace them. There is absolutely no science to support an improved scar healing with the tapes.

From the photos you have provided, it does not appear that you have an infection. We usually leave the steri-strips in place for one month after breast augmentation, and if they fall off prior to one month, we will replace them.  They seem to improve the scar quality. You could consider applying a piece of gauze between your incisions and your bra to help with the discomfort.  Alternatively, you can always discuss with your plastic surgeon. Thanks for sharing!

From your photos it does not look like you have an infection .  You may have had a skin reaction to the adhesive on the steristrips or the skin prep used before application of the steristrips.  If the redness or soreness worsens I would contact your surgeon. 

Doubtful as to infection but better to see your surgeon IN PERSON, if possible. Sounds like you had out of country surgery????

Thank you for your question and photos.  From what I can see on your photograph, you have some mild bruising/skin irritation and some dried blood on the incision.  You will see different protocols with regard to use of steri strips; some surgeons use them for several weeks vs a few days.  If your bra is irritating your skin, you can replace the steristrips or cover with a gauze..  Check with your surgeon for their recommendation.  Good luck. 

Dear KGreat question and congratulation of your breast augmentation! You're almost there.I'm sure this situation can be very nerve racking, and its always difficult to give medical advise over the internet and from just pictures. Signs of infection can include and are not exclusive to fevers, redness of the skin that blanches when pressure is applied and let go (cellulitis) and that gets worse with each day, pus, and increasing pain with each day instead of improving pain with each day. From your photos, it doesn't look like you have an infection around your incisions.  You may have a contact dermatitis from the steri strips which should resolve now that they have been removed.  Check back with your surgeon for advice.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
