My right breast is oozing puss and it's progressively getting worse. Any suggestions? (photos)

Hi, thank you for the question and photo, from what i can see in the photo.. Does your plastic surgeon take a sample of the secretion and send to study? How is the rest of the areola?  Because there is a chance that the flap is suffering.. you should see your PS again.

Thanks for yout inquiry and picture.  I am sorry for your struggles, but it can happen.  Please see your plastic surgeon to make sure there is not a deeper infection and increase your woundcare strategies.  Good Luck. 

First I would remove the tape.  Second you need to be seen by the plastic surgeon to be sure that there is no communication with the implant space, which would indicate contamination of the implant.  Then I would engage in local wound care.

You need to be seen at least twice a week by
your plastic surgeon to treat this area. You have lost part of the areola and
that is either due to infection or to problems with the blood supply to the
area. In these situations, you first need to be sure there is not an infection
that is not being controlled with antibiotics and to be sure to determine that
there is not a deeper abscess or infected hematoma (blood collection) that
could be causing a problem with the circulation or infection.



It is also very important that neither you
smoke or receive any second-hand smoke as that can seriously compromise the
healing.

I am very sorry to hear about your ordeal.  If this 'pus' is new, I would advise you to immediately inform your surgeon about it, as it suggests a surgical site infection that needs to be treated.   Wish you the best.

Thanks for the picture and your question.  I would advise that you contact your surgeon immediately and discuss your issue.  An infection should be evaluated and treated.

From your photo, you either had an infection or fat necrosis from the procedure and removal of tissue. There is nothing to be done now except local wound care to allow this to heal over time. It is likely that you can undergo a revision in the future, but that will likely be 6 month to a year from the time you are healed. The pigment lost in your areola can be corrected with tattooing in the future as well. Continue to follow up with your surgeon to ensure that you progress as planned.
