Liposuction procedure while awake?

Yes, liposuction awake with the tumescent solution and maybe some demerol and valium works great.  Completely safe and only mild discomfort.  This system is difficult to use if the love handles are really large but great results should be obtainable. It is not any more difficult following your abdominoplasty.

Limited liposuction can be performed under local anesthesia. You do not want to be in pain during the procedure so that the surgeon must stop or do less than what is necessary to provide you with the most dramatic transformation possible. Liposuction results are highly surgeon dependent. hello chetdeb13 Liposuction can be performed in an outpatient setting such as the surgeon’s office or an outpatient surgical facility.  The procedure can last from 30mins to several hours depending on the body areas being treated.  Local anaesthesia can be used for small areas, but in the case of a larger  procedure involving several areas over several hours ,general anaesthesia will provide a more comfortable and safe experience. #safety #awake

For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction, which is performed under general anesthesia and allows for more fat removal and body contouring. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  In my practice, I perform liposuction under general anesthesia or conscious sedation administered by a board-certified MD anesthesiologist.  In my hands, this produces in the safest and most effective results.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

 I am not an advocate of major Cosmetic Surgery under local anesthesia. In my opinion- General Anesthesia is the safest.Without photos-all views, and the benefit of physical exam- it's difficult to comment accurately. You may be a candidate for a revision Tummy tuck which may address the areas of concern as well as additional liposuction of the hips and flanks may be indicated. In person exam is essential

If the area to be treated is quite small, local anesthesia is acceptable, although you will certainly feel it, as the needles are going in, before the numbing takes effect.
For medium and large areas of liposuction, the vast majority of my patients don't want to "feel it, hear it, smell it or be aware of it", and prefer general anesthesia, given under the watchful eye of a board-certified MD anesthesiologist.
In both styles, tumescent fluid is used.

All methods of liposuction can be done using local anesthesia. The tumescent fluid, which has become standard of care for suction assisted lipectomy, delivers local anesthetic as well as vasoconstriction (to mitigate blood loss).While any technique can be used, typically patients undergoing more limited treatments will be very comfortable with oral sedation in concert with tumescent anesthesia. Larger areas are often better tolerated with IV sedation. General anesthesia is safest for planned high volume procedures.
The best choice for anesthesia is that which provides the patient and practitioner with the most comfort. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

I assume you mean 2016. Liposuction can be done under local anesthesia but I find it much more comfortable under general anesthesia. It will be safe under local anesthesia, the only issue is of comfort.  It does become more difficult after having had previous liposuction and abdominoplasty because of scarring but good results can still be achieved. Please talk to your Plastic Surgeon about all your doubts and concerns. All The Best !

While limited liposuction can be performed under local anesthesia, you will be in pain and the surgeon will be limited in his ability to provide results if it is more extensive. Consult with an experienced and expert board certified plastic surgeon to understand your options.
