I had lipo in my abdomen, thighs, arms and love handles. I am 5'4 and 135 pounds (BMI of 23). If I gained 10-15 pounds after lipo would it cause irregularities in the areas that were lipo'ed? More specifically would it cause lumps and pockets of fat or would my abdomen just look fatter, but evenly so?
Answer: Liposuction: weight gain hello 12312345123 The results of liposuction are usually permanent, but in the case of a large weight gain the area would also gain fat but to a lesser degree. Weight gain and weight loss can change the results for any patients and the outcome of weight change is not predictable. #thighs #arms

Answer: What happens if I gain weight after Liposuction? If you currently do not have lumps, bumps, or irregularities after your liposuction, then you will most likely not develop them after gaining weight. In the perfect world, when we perform liposuction, we would only remove the excess or disproportionate amount of fat. For example, if someone has way more fat in their love handles than anywhere else, we remove the excess fat in the love handles so that they match the rest of the body. This however is usually not the case. That's why it's so important to watch your weight and to keep a healthy lifestyle after liposuction. If you gain a lot of weight then the fat is going to go to the areas where you have not had any liposuction.

Answer: Weight gain Some patients will temporarily gain weight after liposuction due to the swelling involved with the procedure. Patients rarely notice a significant weight loss from the procedure long-term with the exception of very high volume liposuction such as when 5 to 10 L of fat has been removed. When liposuction is done correctly and someone who is a good candidate immediate improvements should be seeing that should be fairly smooth without significant irregularities. Some irregularities firmness and lumps may be a seen within the first month after the procedure. By six weeks results are close to final. At three months results should be final or very close to final and patient should not expect any changes after six months. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
