Lip incompetence post braces and sliding genioplasty. What are my options? (photos)

The primary causes of upper lip incompetence are either skeletal (tall upper jaw) or soft tissue (short upper lip).   Based on your photos, you may have a combination of the two.  Flaring of the upper teeth can also contribute.   Orthognathic Surgery (corrective jaw surgery) can often address both of these issues.   In your case, where you have already had some orthodontic and cosmetic treatments, your best bet may be lengthening the upper lip.   I would recommend an evaluation with a reputable, board certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon to discuss your situation and determine specific treatment options to address your concerns.

The pictures you have submitted are not optimal and I believe you should be evaluated by a plastic surgeon or an orthodontic surgeon in person. From the photograph it appears that you may have excessively long maxilla which should only be treated surgically. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City
