If you developed hyperpigmentation from the needling I would not do this again, aerolase with skin lightening would be a good option for now. Fraxel DUAL maybe able to be performed but I would wait till the pigmentation is improved. Best, Dr. Emer.

This would be considered one of the possible responses to microneedling, and there can be a variety of reasons why your skin responded in this way.  I would not get another microneedling treatment in the area, and would seek a local provider who has experience with hyperpigmentation.  There are several things that could be tried, including several different topical agents that are designed to lighten skin.  Energy devices like IPL and lasers can also be tried to suppress the pigment, but would require a very experienced provider who is well trained in treating hyperpigmentation with these modalities.  Find a provider you trust and get an evaluation.  Good luck.  - Doc L

I would not get any more microneedling if it caused hyperpigmentation.Topical products containing hydroquinone and pine bark extract and Kojic acid will reduce the post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.Dr Karamanoukian#RealSelf100 Member
