What is the maximum needle depth necessary to get effective results from micro needling?

I realize needle depths are determined and dependent on the skin's depth at different parts of the face. However, what has scientific research determined is the maximal depth that going beyond that is not going to yield better results?

Microneedling depth has not been studied.  I do on my self 0.5-0.75mm every few weeks and my skin looks amazing.  post laser i do microneedling and am more conservative than when someone comes in for a monthly or few times a year treatment.  It all is based on the condition being treated, the persons willingness for downtime and what their skin type is like.  This should be evaluated and discussed by a cosmetic dermatologist for your long term goals.  Best, Dr. Emer.

The depth is determined by the particular problem being addressed as well as its severity along with consideration given to how much down time you can afford.
