Thank you for your question. I prefer compression garments postoperatively but each plastic surgeon has his/her own preferences. Be sure your plastic surgeon addresses allyour concerns and discusses the surgery details including the risks andbenefits of the procedure, recovery time, and post-operative course, including the abdominal board or garments per his/her choosing. WhenI perform an abdominoplasty, the necessary skin and fat is removed, theabdominal muscles are tightened, a small umbilical incision is made that is notexternally visible, and a short, low waistline incision is designed to be easilyhidden by your underwear or bikini. Pleaseview plenty of before-and-after pictures in real women (and not justcomputer-generated images) who have a similar abdominal appearance toyours, and preferably at different time frames (3 weeks out, 3 months out, etc) to more accurately predict your own surgical outcome. And lastly, Ithink the most important component of the consultation is to establish a goodconnection with your plastic surgeon. If you don’t feel you have a goodconnection with your plastic surgeon after your consultation, he/she may not bethe best surgeon for you.Good luck.Mark K Markarian, MD, MSPHHarvard-trained Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon
This questions is best addressed to your chosen Operating Surgeon. Every Surgeon has different preferences and recommendations to their patients. A good compression garment is always a good choice.
These may be effective, but I do not use them for my patients. I do think a well fitting compression garment does help as well. The plastic surgeon who is performing your TT and lipo will have preferences; follow those as he or she will be monitoring your recovery.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Los Angeles, CA
Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well.I personally recommend the abdominal board, because it avoid the faja from bending over the belly bottom. But talk with your plastic surgeon, because all doctor have their own recommendations.Hope this could help and good luck :)
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It is reasonable to use an abdominal board after your tummy tuck, but you should wait until you are completely healed before you use it. I suggest at least 3 weeks from the time of surgery. Of course, you will need an in-person consultation to evaluate you for this procedure. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. Any treatment plan should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation in person with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
