My friend got an eyelid surgery at 14 years old! Should I get it? Is it worth it?

My mom says I could if I want to since my mom also got plastic surgery -eyelid rhinoplasty- So should I? I don't have photos right know but plz answer as soon as possible

Thank you for sharing your question. Unless you have very unusual eyelids that you were born with, it is unlikely that you are a candidate for eyelid surgery at your age. Make an appointment with an experienced board-certified Oculoplastic Surgeon if you have questions. Good luck.

Surgery at age 14 would likely only be performed for a congenital medical condition. Unless you have that, surgery would not be appropriate at your age.

It sounds like you are on the young side to undergo eyelid surgery.  It is possible that your 14 year old friend had a condition that was medically necessary and not outlying cosmetic.

Some people have excess upper eyelid skin creating hooding or puffy lower eyelids even at a younger age. I would recommend consultation with a facial plastic surgeon to see if it is necessary or beneficial to meet your needs. Good luck in your area.

Although not impossible it would be extremely unlikelyTo do a facelift on a 14-year-old patient.  When done this is usually meant to correct a severe facial asymmetry and not natural aging processes.  Each surgery that a person has had scar tissue and takes away a bit of circulation to the tissue.  Starting at an appropriate ageA leads to a much more natural look.  Most people would not need facelift surgery until their mid 40s.  I strongly recommend against cosmetic surgery for young people.

Cosmetic surgery at age 14 is not an option I would ever consider.  If you are concerned, you can discuss your case with your parents/guardians and a board certified oculoplastic surgeon.

If your friend had eyelid surgery at 14 it was likely for a congenital condition such as ptosis or blepharochalasis and not for a cosmetic reason for which you are inquiring. Since you are a minor, any decision regarding such procedures will need to have your parent's consent.
