Does Emsculpt actually make you stronger?

Great question! It certainly couldn't hurt by strengthening the muscles around the knee. Given there will be some recovery time related to the knee surgery, but it should have no ill effect toward your recovery. Make sure your provider reviews the contraindications with you and you review them with your doctor/surgeon before you begin treatments.Possible contraindications for Emsculpt treatments are metal or electronic implants in the treatment area, cardiac pacemakers, implanted defibrillators, implanted neurostimulators, drug pumps, malignant tumor, hemorrhagic conditions, epilepsy, and (the one that may apply most to you) recent surgical procedure. So consult your doctor, but typically after healing you should be able to build leg muscle back with Emsculpt! Best of luck!

The EmSculpt treatment does build muscle and with it, strength. Most recently one of my patients reported a significant increase in core strength after having the four treatment series. He indicated that his ability to hold a plank, complete sit-ups and crunches, as well as participate in yoga and pilates activities was much more effective. Good luck with your decision. Thanks for your question. This technology is still relatively new and we are constantly finding new applications for it. Currently, it is only FDA-cleared to use on the abdomen and buttocks, but many providers are using it "off-label" to treat arms, thighs, and even the back muscles. I believe it does make you stronger! Many patients report being able to do more yoga poses that require the abs, and feeling less low back strain. We will see where the future takes us with this instrument.

The first FDA indications of EMSCULPT were for abdomen and buttock. However, we have just been cleared by the FDA for treatment of legs. However, the protocols haven't been provided by the company yet. That being said, there is no reason to think that skeletal muscle in your legs would behave any differently than the proven benefits of muscle strengthening of the skeletal muscles in the abdomen and buttock (16%+ growth). There are many practitioners who have been treating "off label" with emsculpt on the legs and other body parts with great results, but now we can treat "on label" with Emsculpt.
