Bruising after 6 weeks BBL

Question

Hello, I had a BBL 6 weeks ago and have pain in right butt cheek since the beginning. I was Informed by my surgeon that it’s normal and to take ibuprofen. I just noticed today, that I have a huge black and blue in that area. The area is not hot, but I’m concerned. Should I be worried.

I’m sorry for the adverse symptoms you are experiencing. I would suggest contacting your plastic surgeon to discuss your specific needs and concerns. He/she has intimate knowledge about the procedure performed and detailed familiarity about your potential complications. In particular, contact your surgeon promptly if you notice an increase in swelling, pain, redness, drainage, or bleeding in the surgical area, or if you develop fever (above 100.4 F), dizziness, nausea, or vomiting. Bruising after BBL occurs in a majority of patients. It is not symmetric and may only be one sided. Its late occurrence suggests its source was deep and / or you have thick skin.  If the area is demonstrating increasing swelling, firmness, or increasing pain, you should see your surgeon ASAP.  Otherwise the process should resolve on its own. It will take 6 months or so for all swelling to resolve and for your "final appearance" to be revealed.
If concerned, let your surgeon take a peek.

The healing process could be from 6 months to a year, depending on the patient. The inflammation and bruising could last months. If you have any concerns, I suggest you follow up with your plastic surgeon.
Be patient, it is too soon to determine your final result.
