Can dermabrasion be done at same time as facelift? Is it better at perioral lines than fat transfer?

Our office has many different treatments for scars depending on the depth of atrophy or hypertrophy. Fractional lasers such as Fraxel, erbium, and CO2 laser can be combined with radio frequency and also fractional RF to improve textual issues and microtopography. Subcision and TCA cross are also used for deep ice pick scars and narrow valley scars in order to improve the micro texture. It is completely safe to have peri-oral dermabrasion and a facelift at the same time. I has taught to do this during my fellowship and I have done it on my 12 years of private practice. The dermabrasion is far away from the area of the facelift, so healing is not impaired and the flap of the facelift is not placed at danger by the dermabrasion. The dermabrasion will help with the lines and wrinkles. If the problem also consist of volume restoration (size of lips) then fillers or fat grafting will be needed in the future to improve that problem.Hope this helps,Dr. Gustavo A. It sounds like you may have already had your procedure, but sure, dermabrasion around the lips (and fat grafting for that matter) could be safely completed at the same time as facelifting. It should not hinder the blood supply to the skin edges of the facelift, which is critical to getting a nice result with the facelift. Best of luck to you.

Dermabrasion around the lips is aften done at the same time as a facelift.  Different surgeons have different experiences.  I prefer dermabrasion for the vertical lip lines rather than fat transfer.  However, your surgeon may prefer fat transfer.
