At 16, I got lipo and did not like the contour and uneven surfaces (first pic). At 25, I got lipo/tt to fix it w/ fat graft to bum. I noticed even more hip/waist asymmetry—one side curves in more than the other (2nd pic). Found out I have scoliosis. What are my options? How can I fix this? Some is swelling but most of the asymm. is due to scoliosis. Please tell me I have an option or tell me there’s nothing I can do and to save my money.
Answer: Scoliosis Dear Alana P., it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speking, scoliosis can cause body asymmetry which can't be corrected with cosmetic procedures. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Liposuction Revision It is difficult to assess without an in-person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. The definitive correction for liposuction deformities requires the advanced technology of ultrasound assisted VASER liposuction. As an official trainer of VASER liposuction, I encounter suboptimal liposuction outcome referrals weekly. VASER liposuction has been the only modality that has consistently corrected liposuction caused deformities. VASER liposuction ensures a smooth contour regardless of severity of contour irregularities by virtue of being able to remove any and all remaining fat comprehensively and uniformly. Finally, when skin redundancy irregularities are observed, Renuvion technology can be simultaneously applied to tighten your skin to optimize your overall contour outcome. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Answer: Avoiding treating asymmetry The entire human body is a symmetrical. This is true for everyone. People are left-handed or right handed. All the internal organs are asymmetrically placed. Peoples face is asymmetrical. The left breast is typically half an inch higher on the chest wall in the right breast. Thighs and hips are asymmetrical. This is primarily based on skeletal structure. Because asymmetry is normal great historical artists understood and incorporated this into great works of art. You can take a look for yourself. Nobody else notices asymmetry unless extreme because the human mind is a custom to seeing it. When treating asymmetry with cosmetic surgery a new unnatural assymmetry is always created. For example if the hips are larger on one side it is because their pelvis grew that way. By doing asymmetrical Liposuction people are now left with an asymmetrical pelvis and an asymmetrical fat distribution. Having to opposite asymmetries don’t necessarily cancel each other out. I suggest you accept your body as being asymmetrical and should’ve excepted this and been told of this during your very first consultation. In all of your pictures except in the one where you’re wearing pants your degree of asymmetry isn’t all that severe at all. In the picture of you wearing pants I’m not sure what’s going on but you just had surgery and you were swollen. People can obsess over a symmetry ad infinitum. I suggest you try not to do that.
