Answer: Improving facial volume and contour with fillers (Radiesse, Voluma, Bellafill), Sculptra, implants, fat No, once fillers dissolve, your face will go back to normal. Facial volume and contouring of the cheekbones can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra. This would allow you to try on the look before committing to a permanent option like fat or implants. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Facial volume loss after weight loss Thanks for your question, Leah. It's common to lose facial volume when we undergo dramatic weight loss. The good news is, your facial volume can be restored safely and naturally with dermal fillers. From your picture, it looks like cheeks and tear troughs would be a good place to start with volume replacement. Luckily, filler tends to last a long while in these areas (a year or more). As the filler gets metabolized by the body, you will go back to baseline (you won't become worse than you were before). Smoking isn't helping your skin or tissues of the face, either. If you can kick that habit, your skin will thank you! As always, seek an expert provider to perform these treatments. Hope this helps! Health and Happiness, Dr. Hester

Answer: Will your face look worse if you stop doing fillers or when the filler wears off Interestingly, we now have more than a decade of experience and studies in millions of different types of people treated all over the world. The data and experience suggests that not only is there NOT a worsening of the look of the face, in fact most people look better than had they never had the filler prior. An expert and highly trained injector such as a dermatologist can assess you in person for the optimal filler and location of injection for you, and to optimize safety, minimize pain, and increase duration of the filler.

Answer: Fillers after weight loss Sculptra Aesthetic is a great filler choice in patients who are experiencing changes in their face after weight loss. When the filler wears off, your filler will return to its pre-treatment state, of course, accounting for any aging that happened in the interim.

Answer: Fillers are not permanent Dermal fillers are not permanent; lasting anywhere from 9-24 months depending on the area of the face treated. There is one filler that can last up to 5 years. When they wear off, your facial features are the same and the filler does not make your face look worse. That being said, if you have lost significant weight during this time or have had other medical issues, than you face may appear more "aged" but not due to the filler wearing off.
