A scar from hair transplant should always ideally heal in a flat manner. It may start off bumpy but should improve over the next year. For scars that are still bumpy or hypertrophic or not changing after several months, you may require steroid injections to flatten the scar or a scar revision to improve the scar and make it less noticeable. In general it can take around 6 months for a FUT scar to heal. From the sutures or staples, the size of the strip including how wide and the length as well as taking into account the skin laxity. When healed the scar should be flush with the surrounding hair, not raised.
Hello and thank you for your question. It can take at least 6 months for the scar to heal. If its been a t least 6 months then I would see your surgeon and see what he/she can do about flattening it.
If your surgeon does a proper closure and you heal properly, you should have a flat area. If you have any problems and concerns you should contact your doctor for an evaluation.
The scars should heal flat and not wide. If the scar is wide and has a bulge on it and you are more than a few months after the surgery, the surgeon can inject it with a steroid and flatten it.
