19 months post hair transplant, was it a failure?

Hello, and thank you for your question. Full growth is judged at 10-12 months. Sometimes the native hairs in the recipient area will continue to thin over time which can give the illusion of a failed transplant, when in reality most of the density is actually from the transplanted hair. 
It is clear there is definitely an improvement from pre-op to 19 months post-op, but I see where the issue is. A further in person consultation would be needed to determine whether the transplant was not entirely successful; it is nearly impossible to tell simply from photos.

More pictures are needed to help evaluate your progress. Specifically, photos of your hairline before the procedure and after the procedure are needed.

Hello and thank you for your question. It is really difficult to tell by only looking at your pictures. Many factors can play a part in what make you think that your procedure failed, such as thinning out of native hair that was there before the procedure. I suggest you to have a second opinion and be evaluated live!

Thank you for the great question. It’s difficult to tell with the pictures you provided. This is tough, I understand you don’t know which way to turn. I think I would advise you to get a second opinion rather than go back to the same doctor. Find a doctor you are comfortable with and who will come up with a plan that’s best for you. You may have lost all of the native hair that you had where the transplant was performed giving you less than satisfactory results.A conversation with your family is probably the best source or making a decision as to what to do next. You have hair where the transplant was performed, the question is: Is the hair you see the transplanted hair or the original hair that was there.  If I were looking closely at you, I would be able to tell.
