Can CoolSculpting be performed on the mons pubis? (Photo)

Question

I lost a bunch of weight, and I can't seem to lose any on my mons pubis. When looking at my mons at a profile angle, it's a huge bulge! I have a lot of fat there that just won't go. I've considered lipo, but would love to have the option for a non-invasive procedure. Is coolsculpting be something I should consider?

Certainly Coolsculpting can achieve incredible results without ever having a surgical procedure. However the time it takes to reach these results can be lengthy and sculpting certain areas can be challenging to achieve your individual goals. Don’t overlook the option for Office based SmartLipo which is a laser based option which breaks up fat and tightens skin while allowing for fat to be suctioned out permanently at the same setting. Look for a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has a Certified AAAASF surgical facility to achieve your “Ideal Self”.

Congratulations on weight loss. Yes it can be used on the mons pubis area but the best advice would be after doing a consultation to feel the fat in the area since coolsculpting will work only on fat.

Thank you for your question and congratulations on your weight loss! While CoolSculpting is wonderful in de-bulking fatty areas, unfortunately I think you're more of a full tummy tuck candidate as it will also address the loose hanging skin, achieving optimum results. I's suggest scheduling an in-person consultaiton with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area to discuss your surgical options and expectations. No, I don't recommend this and based on your picture, you are not a candidate for Coolsculpting or Liposuction alone, but need skin removal to help improve laxity. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction, which can be performed at the same time as a tummy tuck/skin removal. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. Thanks for your great question. CoolSculpting is a highly effective noninvasive treatment which permanently removes 20-25% of the fat from the treated areas. There are a variety applicators with different sized and contours to fit areas such as the mons pubis. I do think that it is important to note that it will take a few treatments to achieve optimal results. What is really great is that the results are smooth and natural looking. Coolsculpting can definitely be considered to treat the mons pubis area but I would recommend for optimal results surgery.  You must realize that it will take several treatments to have a dramatic reduction in the appearance of your mons with Coolsculpting.  Treatments are typically 4-8 weeks apart and results make take up to 12-16 weeks to be seen.

congratulations on your weight loss.  While off label coolsculpting has been used on the mons pubis with good results.  From your photos however, it does not appear that you would be a good candidate for coolsculpting.  A surgical procedure would be the best option to help you achieve your goals.

Thanks for the question and for including a picture. Currently, CoolSculpting the mons pubis is considered off label and is not recommended by Allergan. That being said, even if it was I think you would have some skin laxity afterwards and the mons may hang even more. This would be the same case with liposuction as well. My recommendation with be to consider having an abdominoplasty and have your surgeon debulk the mons area during the surgery. Best of luck! Dr. Basile
