From your description it sounds as though you had a reaction to the injections themselves versus the Juvederm product.  While it is not typical, this reaction can occur.  Depending on the severity some patients can control it with distraction techniques, cool compresses, or positioning.

The lips are a very vascular area and are therefore prone to bruising and swelling. What you describe is significant but not worrisome. Some ice packs and patience will allow your lip swelling to settle in the next few days. Hope that helps. Regards, Adam Goodwin.
