A few seconds after Juvederm was injected I started getting very hot and sweating. My vision was blurry, couldn't speak or think clearly, dizzy, faint, and nauseous. I was like that for about 30 min then the feeling started to wear off. So she started to do the other side of my mouth. Same feelings happened again. I could not finish my procedure as I was too sick. Is this normal?
Answer: Dizzy, Faint and Nauseous with Injections I believe it is very likely you were experiencing a vasovagal reaction. A vasovagal reaction occurs when you faint because your body overreacts to certain triggers, such as the sight of blood or extreme emotional distress. The trigger causes your heart rate and blood pressure to drop suddenly, which reduces the blood flow to the brain. Depending upon the severity, you may completely lose consciousness and faint, or if less severe, feel dizzy and nauseous. This can be treated or prevented with atropine 0.4 mg injected in the muscle. For many years, I have been preventing vasovagal events for patients prone to fainting when the patient has Tumescent Liposuction patients (liposuction completely by local anesthesia), by giving atropine 0.4 mg via their intravenous access, without any adverse effects.

Answer: Is dizziness, blurred vision, weakness, cold sweats, and feeling faint normal when receiving Juvederm? From your description it sounds as though you had a reaction to the injections themselves versus the Juvederm product. While it is not typical, this reaction can occur. Depending on the severity some patients can control it with distraction techniques, cool compresses, or positioning.

Answer: Side Effects While Getting Juvederm Treatment Thank you for your question and I’m sorry you had such an uncomfortable reaction to your treatment. I would not expect Juvederm itself to cause a reaction like this - it was more likely the injections themselves. It sounds like it might have been what is known as a vasovagal reaction to the injections or a panic attack. If you decide to try this procedure again in the future, I recommend you find a board-certified dermatologist and discuss your previous reaction. The right doctor should be able to put your concerns at rest and create a comfortable environment for your treatment that will likely elicit a less severe response. Good luck to you!

Answer: Atypical Reaction to Lip Augmentation with Juvederm Injectable Filler -- Dizziness, Blurred Vision, Weakness, Cold Sweats Sorry to hear about your experience. While you're not the first user on RS to post about this type of reaction to fillers, it is not a typical or expected response mid-treatment. However, it's unlikely that these side effects are a reaction to the Juvederm filler specifically. I recommend following up with your physician or an experienced cosmetic dermatologist for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Thoughts on my reaction to Juvederm? I would agree 100% with the previous person that you had a very classic Panic Attack. This is relatively uncommon but the symptoms that you displayed are classic for this. My suggestion would be to either take a light sedative next time you have your injection (and have someone drive you there/back) or choose a different injector that makes you feel a little more comfortable. If this were a more dangerous reaction from the actual product, the symptoms would not have resolved. I hope that helps and wish you the very best!Warmest regards,-Gregory A Buford MD FCAS PCEOBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon and AuthorCertified Allergan National MASTER Facial Injectables Trainer
