Is BodyTite superior to normal lipo in all ways?

the reviews I've read and the pre/post op photos I've seen have me wondering if bodytite is as effective at overall fat removal as traditional liposuction. While I love the idea of the minimal invaseness and overall smoothness, and skin tightening I am most concerned with eliminating the fat on my flank area. I have definitely decided that is the best option for my abdomen sag, but wanted to get some input about if that is the best option for areas that are more fatty.

Bodytite is a radio-frequency treatment which serves to tighten skin. This accomplished by subdermal heating of the collagen fibers which can cause tightening as well as stimulate fibroblast activity for collagen deposition. This can be combined with liposuction (but does not necessarily need to be). The fat removal component is no different than traditional liposuction. For those patients with excess fat in the absence of skin laxity Bodytite does not necessarily hold an advantage over more traditional liposuction. However, in patients with laxity or in whom there is a concern for worsening laxity post liposuction, a radio-frequency tightening will help.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Bodytite does not remove any fat but it tightens tissue.  It can be combined with liposuction to improve contours dramatically.  Liposuction cannula will require larger incisions.

BodyTite is not superior to normal liposuction, but BodyTite PLUS liposuction is superior to normal lipo. This is because the two procedures act by using different mechanisms. BodyTite burns some fat as it thermally contracts the fibrous network beneath your skin. There is definitiely some degree of fat removal by burning fat cells. However, liposuction actually sucks out the fat, and lots of it. Liposuction can remove liters of fat in one procedure. Unfortunately, when you remove fat, the overlying skin can get saggy or deflated. This is where BodyTite and FaceTite come in. By causing collagen remodeling, BodyTite and FaceTite are as close as we can get to cutting out skin without actually cutting out skin. In many cases, I would insist my patients have both procedures at once to maximize their outcomes. After removing the filling, for example, you want to reduce the casing for the best result.

Hi There Thank you for your excellent question.This is a topic that is often raised by those comparing different forms of lipo.Truthfully it does not matter whether one is using Vaser, Laser or Bodytite - the amount of fat removal will be similar and depend on what is required to get the contour desired.To be fair what we leave behind is more important than what we take out.With traditional liposuction one has to be a bit more careful as there can sometimes be more bleeding so there are sensible guidelines on what amount of fat removal is reasonable before you take precautions.With laser there is simply not the power to breakdown significant amounts of fat and thus remove it before the patient gets fed up and the Dr gets tired!!... So this ends up in many cases just being liposuction with the laser brought out for show or to reduce bruising or do some minor skin tightening. Proper laser lipo as it should be done in order to get the amazing tightening is a  slow laborious process. Thank you for an excellent question. I view BodyTite as a complement to the Tickle Liposuction I perform. The results will always be better with BodyTite than lipo alone because you get additional fat destruction as well as skin tightening. BodyTite does not have a built-in suction so some form of lipo is added in the vast majority of cases unless I am using it primarily for skin laxity rather than size reduction.The flank area is best accomplished by a combination of BodyTite and lipo because you want to sculpt this region to create a waist while maintaining or enhancing the top curvature to the buttocks.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

I have found that BodyTite enhances the results I get with liposuction.   I frequently use it as a skin tightening tool before liposuction or to tighten the skin after liposuction.   It works very well in the flank areas and results in considerably less bruising and discomfort in this area.

Bodytite has several advantages over traditional liposuction, however, as with any technology it is not always the solution to everything. In my experience with BodyTite, the technique is a vast improvement in skin tightening and fat melting over traditional liposuction or smartlipo. It has excellent safety features to prevent overheating of the tissues and fat. 
BodyTite seems to work best on areas of moderate skin laxity and mild to moderate fat deposits. Especially good candidates are patients who are borderline skin reduction procedures such as tummy tucks or arm lifts. 
In terms of the flank areas, most patients have inherently good skin tone and BodyTite is usually not needed for skin tightening, however this would vary on a case-by-case basis.
BodyTite is an exciting technology that shows great improvement over other techniques. Just remember that any tool is only as good as the person wielding it. Make sure you seek out a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in liposuction for a proper and thorough evaluation and treatment.

Thank you for the question and it is one I had initially as well.  Would I be able to achieve the same results simply using traditional liposuction? an important aspect and skill for any plastic surgeon is to be able to identify which candidates are appropriate for certain procedures. If I conclude that a person is a candidate for traditional liposuction then they are candidates for Body Tite.  The reverse, however, is not true. You identified the ideals that are sought after with body contouring: smoothness, skin tightening, and fat removal. And my experience suggests that Body Tite is a good option to consider since it achieves these.
